Colleen wins but Glynis claims Medal

Last Saturday the ladies of the Parkes Golf Club competed in the fourth round of the Golf NSW Medal and Club Medal sponsored by Cunningham’s IGA.

Winner was Colleen Flynn with 69 nett, but it was Glynis Conroy who claimed the medal as Colleen is only nominated in the Wednesday medal rounds.

Glynis finished runner-up overall with 73 nett via a count back over Barbara Donnelly with Anne Berkeley rounding out the ball winners with 74 nett.

Barbara won the putting competition, only using the flat stick 28 times.

Sue Holman won the Ann Goodie award.

Nearest the pins were Leone Stevenson (1st), Barbara Donnelly (4th), Anita Medcalf (6th), Sue Holman (11th), and Glynis Conroy (15th).

Over the past two rounds which included last Saturday’s event and the Wednesday before it, the ladies held the Veterans’ Country Championships in scratch and handicap over three divisions and a weekend only division.

Results were as follows:

Division 1 – Kaye Jones 93 (scratch); Glynis Conroy 82 nett (handicap).

Division 2 – Jenny Hoy 97 (scratch); Anne Berkeley 77 nett (handicap).

Division 3 – Judy McCabe 108 (scratch); Sue Holman 80 nett (handicap).

Weekend players – Anita Medcalf 94 (scratch); Judith Phillips 77 nett (handicap).

Senior veteran – Lynne Guise 78 nett.

Winners will be awarded trophies from the Veterans Womens Ladies Golf Association later in the year.

Tomorrow the ladies will contest the fifth round of the Ethel Kenyon Stableford competition with good scoring expected.
