Hurting from the loss in April, United head into the important match riding a wave of confidence after a good win over Bathurst St Pat’s last weekend.

Ex-Services currently sit in fourth spot on the competition ladder, four points ahead of United.

A win for Parkes could see them leapfrog Ex-Services into fourth place.

They currently sit in equal fifth with Dubbo Blue Jays.

A two goal Parkes win and a Dubbo loss to third placed Souths would see the red, black and whites alone in fourth place and one step closer to ensuring a top five finish come semi-final time.

Parkes will be without key player, Sarah Melhuish, who is away this weekend.

United coach Aaron Huppatz is likely to use combinations of Bec Cowling, Denise Gersbach and Cass Hodges through the midfield role in Melhuish’s absence.

Huppatz sees a growing enthusiasm and belief in his side ahead of their run to the semis.

“We had our best turnout at training on Monday night for a long time,” Huppatz said.

“That allowed us to work on our structure and how we need to be moving the ball forward to penetrate opposition defences.

“The girls realise that we are at the business end of the season and that we need to be 100 per cent focused moving forward.

“They are keen to improve and do well which is fantastic.

“Losing Sarah this weekend is a big loss, but we have players who can capably fill that role in her absence,” he said.

With matches against the top three sides in the final rounds before the preliminary semi-finals on August 15, United need to earn an important four points in Orange tomorrow in what looks likely to be a very tight chase for the final two semi spots.
